Sujoy has over 15 years of experience in advising clients on corporate matters. His principal focus is on transactional advice. He has advised investors (both corporate and individual), target entities (both established and start-up) and various intermediaries on all aspects of transactions, including mergers, share sale/purchases, asset sales and buy-outs.

Sujoy also has extensive experience in the setting up of joint ventures in India in sectors such as Insurance, Defence and Manufacturing, representing both foreign investors as well as Indian companies in such joint ventures.

His practice areas include advising on setting up business in India, day-to-day business operations, corporate compliance and governance and business structuring. In addition, Sujoy regularly advises on all types of commercial and corporate contracts. Sujoy is dual-qualified in the UK and in India has been practicing corporate law since 2004.

Prior to joining C&M, Sujoy was a partner in JSA’s corporate/commercial practice in Gurugram, Haryana.

Notable Matters: 

 

  • Advised Indorama India Private Limited and Indorama Corporation Pte. Ltd. (its parent company) on the acquisition of Grasim Industries Limited’s fertiliser business as a going concern on a slump sale basis for INR 2,649 Crores;

  • Advised the Government of India on the acquisition of a majority stake by Power Finance Corporation in Rural Electrification Corporation valued at INR 14,500 Crores;

  • Advised Ebix Inc. on the acquisition of ItzCash and its Singapore holding company – a simultaneous buy-out in two jurisdictions in the payments space;

  • Advised PayU Payments Private Limited on an investment in Dotpe Private Limited; and

  • Advised Chanel on the sale of data centre/outsourcing operation in Bengaluru to Capgemini.
